The Project

A few weeks ago my wife and I received the much-anticipated "100 Very Best Restaurants" issue of the Washingtonian.  It would be hard to overstate my love for DC, and for food, so I always enjoy perusing the list.

This year, though, we decided to make the list something more.  Stuck in a bit of a rut* with a few favorite food spots, we decided the 2011 "100" list was the perfect inspiration for a bold project.  And so we set a goal: visit every DC-located restaurant, in alphabetical order.

Two comments.

1.  This is not a short-term endeavor.  We are going to slowly work our way through the list, aiming for one new restaurant per week.

2. There is no bias against the Maryland and Virginia restaurants, except that they are far away, we don't own a car, and when we rent a car and head into Virginia my track record of correctly choosing highways and exits is not great.  For those simple and practical reasons we are sticking to the friendly, high-tax confines of the city proper.

As I write this we already have visited three restaurants: Acacia, Adour, and Againn.  I have much to say about each, and the chronicling will begin soon...

*In all honesty I was happily chomping away at said favorite spots, but Megan was eager to survey the landscape since she is a relative DC newbie and did not spend her formative, post-college "jumbo slice years" here.  Also, she may be more refined and adventurous than I am.
